InfraShine Curling Iron Review

Because of my borderline curly hair, I never really experimented much with curling irons. In recent years. I’ve noticed the underside has decided to straighten itself out. To make things worse I, like many curly girls, have my hair cut in layers, leaving me with a long, straight, scraggly layer on the bottom.

I was excited to try the InfraShine Spring Curling Iron and see if it would help me correct my mismatched hair.

This curling iron has several important features:

  • ceramic infused barrel to smooth and defrizz
  • versatile 1 inch size
  • 6 temp setting ranging from 170-360 degrees Fahrenheit
  • heats up quickly (light blinks when ready)
  • long swivel cord
  • stable built-in stand

First, I blow dried my hair mostly straight so I could create a uniform curl. I then clipped the hair into sections and began curling along the bottom. Since my hair is so long, I curled each section in two parts. I curled the hair closest to my scalp first and then curled the ends. Tip: To avoid kinks caused by the clamp on the iron, make sure the tips of your hair line up with the end of the clamp.

Overall, the InfraShine Curling Iron meets my needs. It is easy to use, heats quickly, gets hot enough to curl thick hair, and appears to be a sturdy, well made iron.

New Products from Maybelline

Maybelline has introduced two new products, the Baby Lips Repairing Lip Balm and the Lots of Lashes Mascara.

Baby Lips Lip Balm

I love this new collection of Maybelline lip products. They offer 4 tinted (Cherry Me, Pink Punch, Grape Vine, and Peach Kiss)  and 2 clear (Quenched and Peppermint) varieties. The Peach Kiss was my favorite. It smells great and the pretty peachy color is beautiful and natural. All the balms have SPF 20 to protect from the sun and contain shea butter and centella to soften, hydrate, and plump lips.

After using these balms for a few weeks, I feel this is a great hydrating product and, like I mentioned, the color tints are lovely.

Lots of Lashes Mascara

Every woman is familiar with the iconic pink and green Maybelline mascara. This new version introduces a tapered brush designed to reach every lash. I have to say, I was not very impressed with this new brush. The bristles at the pointed end are so small, it is difficult to apply the mascara. I definitely prefer the standard brush shape to this modified version. The formula itself is decent, but I did have some clumping issues.

Where to Buy

Both of these products are available at mass retailers. The Baby Lips sells for $3.99 and the Lots of Lashes Mascara is $6.40.

I am a BzzAgent and received these samples for free.

Coupon Cabin’s 25 Crazy Dayz Sponsor – Therapon Skin Care

Therapon is a skin care line created by Dr. Beckman, a plastic surgeon and chemist, who believes in a simple approach to skin care – clean and gently remove damaged skin, repair the skin, restore it to its healthiest condition and protect it from further damage.

Review

I was excited to try the Theraderm Skin Renewal System with the new Peptide Hydrator. The Peptide Hydrator is a lightweight moisturizer, perfect for those with normal, oily or combination skin. It’s ingredients promote youthful skin and create a beautifully smooth canvas for makeup.

Included in this system are:

Use:

Step 1: Wash face with the Cleansing Wash. I like that this cleanser is soap free. It lathers up well and removes dirt and makeup thoroughly.

Step 2: Squeeze approximately 10 drops of the Fruit Acid Exfoliant onto a Gentle Action Activation Pad. Lightly rub onto face and neck. This exfoliant is much gentler then the scrubs I normally use. The Fruit Acid Exfoliant is a thin, clear liquid containing clinical-strength lactic acid which naturally exfoliates dry, outer-skin layers, and stimulates natural growth of new skin cells.

Step 3: Spread a thin layer of the OPC Reparative Gel onto face and neck. OPCs (Botanical Proanthocyanadins) decrease inflammation while protecting and repairing skin collagen and elastin.

Step 4: Apply moisturizer. The Peptide Hydrator is a thick cream and comes in a generously sized 1.7 oz. container. Living in a humid climate, I apply a very thin layer to my face and neck. It soaks in quickly and leaves a smooth finish.

I also received the Theraderm Peptide Repair Eye Crème. This eye creme is a combination of peptides, antioxidants and humectants that work to stimulate collagen production and reduce the appearance of wrinkles, dark circles and puffiness. While I have only been using this product for about a month, not enough time to notice a great change in appearance, I am very happy with the silky texture of this product and the level of hydration it offers.

Overall, I think this system includes everything you need in healthy skin regimen.

Exuviance Intensive Eye Treatment Pads Review

The creators of NeoStrata Company, Inc. are recognized for discovering the benefit of Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) on human skin. They found that AHAs are very effective in stimulating prematurely aged or damaged skin to rejuvenate itself. The NeoStrata company has created a comprehensive range of clinically-proven skin care brands including NeoStrata, Exuviance, CoverBlend, NeoCeuticals and NeoStrata Therapeutics.

Review

I received the Exuviance Intensive Eye Treatment Pads. Through all the skin care reviews I have done, I’ve learned the most important part of any skin care routine is hydration and prevention from future damage. I wear sunscreen, sunglasses and use a moisturizing face lotion and eye cream, but sometimes it’s nice to give your face, or in this case eyes, a special treat.

The Eye Treatment Pads come in a box with 4 applications. Each application comes in a foil pouch and contains two under eye pads, one for each eye.  The pads are thin and covered in a gel. I like that they are relatively comfortable to wear and stay on easily. They are simple to use – apply under each eye, and leave on for up to 30 minutes. Remove and gently pat in excess solution.

The product description says that these eye pads will, ” firm and hydrate the eye area while stimulating cell renewal and minimizing fine lines and wrinkles.” After using this treatment, I did notice my eye area was very well hydrated and brightened. However, even after using all four treatments, I did not notice any firming or minimizing of lines. Maybe it takes more applications, but the product description doesn’t mention when you should expect to see results.

Price: $22 for 4 applications.

Purchase

Purchase – Visit the Exuviance Intensive Eye Treatment Pads product page to buy. Also check them out on Facebook and Twitter.

Perfective Ceuticals Brightening Mask

Perfective Ceuticals is a skin care company specializing in anti-aging and anti-wrinkle formulas. They combine science with nature to create their line of superior anti-aging products.

With the year round sun here in Hawaii, skin care is very important. In addition to my daily routine, I enjoy pampering my skin. I was excited to try Perfective Ceuticals – Divine Brightening Mask Botanical Formula for Uneven Skin Tone.

The formula for the Divine Brightening Mask combines seven brightening agents which are said to diminish discoloration and dullness caused by aging, free-radical exposure, environmental damage, and neglect.

There are 5 masks included, each in a separate foil pouch. To use, peel off the baking and apply to your face, lining up the eye, nose, and mouth holes. The mask is covered in a gel which is absorbed into your skin over the next half hour. After the 30 minutes are up, remove the mask and rub in any remaining gel.

What I liked about the Skin Brightening mask:

  • Smelled beautiful, like rose water.
  • Skin hydration lasted a long time after using the mask.
  • Easy to use and comfortable to wear.
  • Did not irritate skin.
  • Decent price at $39 for five masks.

What I didn’t like:

  • I haven’t noticed much brightening or diminishing of discoloration.

Overall, I really liked the Divine Brightening masks. They are relatively inexpensive and hydrate the skin very well.

In addition to the masks, I also received a small sample of the Divine Age Guardian Cream. This is a smooth, thick cream, good for the colder upcoming months. While I only had enough to use one time, I think the Perfective Ceuticals line is very well developed in general, and I recommend trying this cream if you are interested in a nice heavy product.

Purchase/Win

Purchase – Visit the Divine Brightening Mask page to purchase. To view all their products, please visit perfectiveceuticals.com and also check them out on Facebook.

Win – Perfective Ceuticals is kindly offering one Let’s Win reader both the Divine Age Guardian Cream and the Divine Brightening Mask Botanical Formula for Uneven Skin Tone (both full size). This giveaway is open to US residents.

Urielle Luxury Hair Care Review

BlogMania
The sponsor for the Blogmania giveaway here at Let’s Win is Urielle Luxury Hair Care.

The creator of Urielle, Uriel Yusupov, began his hairstyling career when he was a young boy. He would watch and later imitate his grandfather, a famous St. Petersburg hairstylist. In 2003, he opened the Red Chair Salon and from there the Urielle line of hair products was born.

Review

About the product – Revital by Urielle is a restoring and conditioning styling treatment that works with all hair types. It is a clear, thick serum that is quickly absorbed by the hair. It is said to seal in moisture, soften and condition, and protect from frizz and UV rays all without leaving any residue.

My thoughts – I have very dry, frizzy hair, so I feel like I was a good test subject for this product. The first time I used this treatment was on dry hair. Afterward, my hair looked better but not significantly. The next time, my hair was damp and the effect was much clearer. My curls where more defined with an overall healthier appearance.

Some things I like about this product are: it spreads easily through hair, hair is noticeably more moisturized, it is light and does not leave residue.

The one thing that I didn’t like was as my hair dried, I could see that it did not help much with my frizz. However, now that I live so close to the ocean nothing really seems to help that.
